Decorative Bird Box Trail at Earlswood Lakes

Earlier this year, I was invited by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council to decorate a bird box for their new trail around Earlswood Lakes in Earlswood, Surrey. The trail is made up of 24 bird and bat boxes, each decorated by a local artist. The bird houses were created by the ‘Men In Sheds’ group in Redhill, and I was excited to decorate my bird box which turned out to be a bird hotel!

The trail has now been officially launched and you can visit the lakes to walk around and spot all the different bird boxes.

As part of the launch event, I created some decorative bird houses which are hand painted and feature different song lyrics along a bird theme – bird song boxes!

You can find out more about the trail on the council website – http://www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/news/article/171/new_decorative_bird_box_trail_launches_at_earlswood_lakes

There is also a leaflet you can download which features images of all the nest boxes so you can tick as you walk – bird box spotter sheet (PDF)
